When you listen to the Staple Singers sing "I'll Take You There" the thing about the song that is most memorable is that signature bass line.."Little David" as Mavis Staples calls him in the song. This picture was taken on my pilgrimage to Muscle Shoals Alabama. David Hood along with Rodger Hawkins on Drums and Barry Beckett on Piano made up three of the main elements of what was know as the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Aretha, Cher and The Staples Singers. Jerry Wexler and Atlantic Records....forget about it. |
Memphis Tennessee - The home of the blues. The man with the do-rag is none other than Jim Dickenson. Mucho Famoso keyboardist supreme and producer extrordinaire. Among his many notorious creative collaborators are The Rolling Stones and Chuck Prophet. Also featured in this photo are Lap Steel Player and Engineer John LeMay (Left) and Virtuoso Muscle Shoals session guitarist Wayne Perkins (Right). Jim was producing Waynes record and John was mixing. Wayne is a legend and his rhythm and slide guitar work can be heard on my song "Who Do I Gotta Kill For Your Love" |
